When it comes to the India, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and NRI steel baron Lakshmi Mittal lead the dwindling number of Indians in the Forbes’ list of world’s richest people.
China has beaten India with a maximum number of billionaires from Asia, it has 28 richest people in the list.
Last year India had the largest number of billionaires from Asia in the Forbes list.
There are only two Indians among the world’s top ten richest men compared to four last year.
Many lost their billionaire status as India’s stock market crashed last year. About 29 Indians are out of the billionaires’ list, says Forbes magazine.
Ranked at number 7, Mukesh — with a total wealth of $19.5 billion — is the richest Indian in the list. Ambani was ranked 5th last year.
He was last year’s biggest billionaire gainer and this year’s biggest loser, the Forbes magazine said, adding that his fortune is down $32 billion, as shares in Reliance Communications fell by two-thirds.
Sunil Mittal
The chairman and managing director of Bharti Airtel, Sunil Mittal is the fourth richest in India. He is ranked at 59 among the world’s richest with a wealth of $7.7 billion.
Azim PremjiAzim Premji, chairman of Wipro is now the fifth richest person in India. With a wealth of $5.7 billion, he is the 83rd richest person in the world.
Shashi and Ravi Ruia Shashi and Ravi Ruia, chairman and vice chairman, respectively, of the Essar Group, bagged the 6th richest position among Indians.
Their global ranking is at 86 with a wealth of $5.6 billion.
The realty sector has been badlly hit by the economic slowdown. His wealth has fallen to $5 billion.
Adi Godrej
Adi Godrej, managing director of the Godrej Group, is the 9th richest Indian. His global rank is 183 with a wealth of $3.3 bilion.
Savitri JindalSavitri Jindal, chairperson of the Jindal group with a wealth of $2.7 billion is the 11th richest Indian. Her global ranking is 234.
Malvinder and Shivender Singh
Ranbaxy CEO Malvinder Singh and his brother Shivender Singh with a wealth of $2.6 billion are the 12th richest in India. Their global ranking is 246.
G M Rao
Founder chairman of the GMR Group, G M Rao is the 13th richest in India. With a wealth of $2.2 billion, his global rank is 318.
Gautam Adani
Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani group is the 15th richest Indian. With a wealth of $1.8 billion, his global ranking is 397.

Shiv Nadar, founder of HCL with a wealth of $1.7 billion comes next in the list.
The other billionaires in the Forbes’ list include Cyrus Poonawalla ($1.5 bn), Anil Agarwal ($1.5 billion), Uday Kotak ($1.2 billion), Kalanithi Maran ($1.2 bn), Chandru Raheja ($1.2 bn), Subhash Chandra ($1.1 bn).
Anurag Dikshit, co-founder of PartyGaming, made it to the richest list with a wealth of $1 billion.
